T-Mobile UK secures MVNO deal with Vectone Mobile
Builds on T-Mobiles leadership in the wholesale market
London, UK 1 October, 2009:
The well-established European mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Vectone Mobile, is partnering with T-Mobile UK to extend its services to the UK market with the launch today of its low-cost prepay service. Vectone Mobile is a pan-European mobile brand with a customer base of more than one million in five countries including Denmark, Norway, Austria, The Netherlands and Switzerland.
This latest partnership augments T-Mobiles lead in the wholesale market with a market share of more than 50% and is the first significant collaboration with a MVNO that predominantly targets an ethnic customer base. The ethnic calling market is strategically important with around 10 million subscribers in the UK generating more than 7 billion calls per anum.
T-Mobile UK Managing Director Richard Moat said: We are delighted to be supporting Vectones ambitious expansion plans for the UK market. The deal with Vectone signals our intent to become a major player in the ethnic MVNO arena. With international calling card minutes rapidly migrating to mobile, this is an excellent time to be forging new partnerships in a segment which is showing signs of bucking the recession with strong projected growth rates. Vectone builds on our eight existing MVNO partnerships and underlines our ambitions to target new growth areas in the wholesale market.
Vectone Mobile is a prepay service offering low call rates for local, national and international calls, plus savings on SMS and roaming. All customers need to activate the service is a Vectone Mobile SIM card and they can top-up online or by buying vouchers from shops displaying the Vectone Mobile sign.
